Before we get started with this Micro Niche Finder review, let’s remind ourselves why we are looking at this program – to uncover profitable keywords for a niche marketing campaign. This type of marketing can be pretty hard. In theory you and I both get the principle:
- Find a profitable niche through keyword research
- Create a web site around that niche
- Monetize the site eg sell affiliate products, sell your own product, CPA offers, Adsense, etc
With most things in life the first steps are generally the easiest; it’s the later steps that get more difficult. In fact niche marketing is the opposite to that. Steps 2 and 3 are relatively straightforward to learn and implement, the hardest part is answering the question
“Just how in the heck am I supposed to find a niche that’s profitable?”
Doing keyword research manually is very time consuming. I know, because I’ve been building niche web sites since the end of 2007. It’s easy to spend 5-6 hours examining keywords on Google and other sites, coming up with a short list of 3 or 4 niches that you hope, you really hope can make you a few bucks. If there’s one area of marketing online that we really have to automate, if we are serious about this, it is that of keyword research.
James Jones’ “Micro Niche Finder” is one such automation tool. First released in 2009, it has seen many updates and upgrades; the latest version is now 5.0. Many claims about this product have been made, among them to help you “uncover new income streams”, “find hot niches” and “make new income opportunities” available to you. OK, that’s the usual general hype that’s familiar to all of us. But is there any real substance to these claims? Are there any features that make this program stand out from the crowd? I decided to take a closer look…
So What Is This Software?
This has become one of the most popular niche keyword research and analysis tools on the internet. It is a stand-alone software program that is downloaded directly to your computer, meaning that you can use it straight away. If you have a PC Emulation program then you can also run it on your Apple Mac. At the moment it is being offered with some interesting free bonuses, which I’ll get into further down.
You begin by entering your basic keyword, so for example “flat screen tv” will return more targeted, profitable long tail keywords such as “42 inch flat screen tv” or “tv cabinets for flat screens”. A wide range of built in filters helps you to further drill down results and focus only on those that are of interest to you. All of your search results are stored, so you can go back to previous search results at any point in the future.
Integration with your Google Adwords account is included as standard, as is a Domain Name finder tool (available domains with .com, .org and .net extensions are shown). To avoid entering markets that are far too competitive there is a competition rating formula they call Strength Of Competition (SOC). A nice feature is that as well as being able to analyze Google, you can run the same results through Amazon, eBay and Clickbank – all from within the program.
One of the biggest problems we all have is that sometimes our minds just go blank when thinking of which specific keywords to analyze. The software’s answer to this is the “Brainstorming Tool” – a list of keyword options are returned and you pick those keywords that interest you. When doing research for this Micro Niche Finder review, the final part that I looked at was the “Backlinking Tool”, which gives an approximation of how many backlinks you would need for a Google Page 1 ranking. This would be particularly useful information for those cases where you have 2 keywords where the analysis is pretty much identical, but one keyword suggests 50 backlinks for a Page 1 ranking but 800 for the other.
Does The Product Live Up To Expectations?
Having done a detailed analysis of this program, it would seem that this product is certainly helpful in uncovering profitable, “buyer” keywords that would otherwise take an awful long time to find. Of course there are parts of this research that you can do manually without using this program, such as using the Google Adwords Tool, although they will all take a lot longer. Backlinks you can also get for free from various sites around the internet. However I did find it really helpful and a lot more efficient to have everything inside one program.
The Strength of Competition tool I found to be extremely useful and this became the major deciding factor if a niche was “go” or “no go”. As someone who often suffers from “niche marketer’s cramp” i.e. “where do I start?” I must admit the “Brainstorming Tool” felt as if it was included just for me.
However I also wanted to take a look around at what others are saying about this program. Here’s a few testimonials from real people:
Micro Niche Finder is consistently “one of the Top 25 Internet Marketing products”
-respected independent authority site IM Report Card
“I just bought it last night and have already uncovered a page full of long tail keywords to use when promoting one of my profitable niche content sites. This is an awesome tool. “
-Andrew S (Testimony from official site)
“I really like the new version you came out with. The SOC (Strength of Competition) part of the software is very helpful in my keyword niche research.”
-Tim B (Testimony from the main site)
“To anyone else who is lost for ideas on how to find good niches – you have to try this tool out for yourself.”
-Joan M (User testimony)
One thing that stuck out for me was how often this product gets updated, which seems to be confirmed by the users above. Google (and others) are regularly making changes to their search algorithms so it’s important a keyword research tool stays up to date with the latest changes.
Finally let’s take a look at this tool in everyday use. Here’s a quick demo which will give you a good idea of what it can do for you…
How About Any Problems?
As with any software program there is an initial learning curve. I put it to the test so that I could write a better Micro Niche Finder review, and in my opinion it can be learned within a few minutes. It does have an awful lot of additional analysis tools within its submenus that could be overlooked by those who don’t take the time to look. For a product that has been on the market as long as this one, and has sold in high numbers, it appears to have attracted remarkably few complaints from users.
One potential negative; I did come across a small Warrior Forum thread from over 12 months ago that listed a few potential issues. On closer inspection these were to do with users not logging into their Google Adwords account when using the software (easily fixed) and some users experienced problems when the software was updated to version 4 (it’s now on version 5). Their support desk contains an impressive knowledge database covering all technical issues and user feedback indicates a “very responsive” help desk.
